Welcome to Sisters Hands,
a unique group of decorative artisans linked by our
passion for decorative finishing. This group combines
old and new friends sharing a love for their art.
Decorative art tends to be very solitary work. The fact
that we each work alone for much of the day was one of
the driving forces in our union and the creation of
Sisters Hands. We may be alone on the wall, but we now
have our sisters to share our common experiences. We
believe there is a special kind of magic between us that
is rare in this life; and together we nourish each other
professionally, personally, and spiritually. We
each maintain our own businesses but give credit to each
other for our individual success. We each bring
individual strengths and unique talents to the creative
table resulting in an incredible synergy.
In this supportive and
skilled collective, we are confident in taking on
projects of any magnitude. Because Sisters Hands
has members throughout the nation, we are uniquely
qualified to offer both individual and collective
services by some of the most highly skilled and trained
artisans in the country. Whether you are a
designer, architect, contractor, or homeowner, you can
be assured of the highest standards of quality finishing
no matter where you are located. Whether your
project requires one artist or ten, Sisters Hands is
pleased to be of service. We invite you to read a
little about each of us and visit our individual
websites. Finishes contained in the "Sister" sites are
available to any customer and is shared, expanding our
portfolios and offering our clients a wider range of
ideas and inspiration. Thanks for visiting!

Growing up in a
military environment, every building
with white walls, I couldn’t wait to get
out in the real world full of
color! My first experience with
paint was interesting, I painted white
polka dots of different sizes on my
father’s mint condition 1957 red and
white Chevrolet Bel Air, and at eight
years old I was very proud of the job I
had done! Needless to say, my
father had another opinion. From
then on it was an adventure to find
things that I could give a whole new
life to just by using color! That
was 35 years ago and I am still on that
adventure, always breathing new life
with the stroke of a brush or the swoosh
of a trowel! Visit me at

My first
artistic memory would be that of my Grandfather giving me a very
large paint brush and a bucket of water. I know now that he
had found a way to keep me busy and out of his hair, but I would
spend hours "painting the house" and would ask to do this activity
every time I visited. Had I only known then that when I would
look at that old black and white photograph of myself and my very
big brush that I would see into the eyes of that 3 year old and see
the real me, even way back then. Today as the owner of Creative
Lane, I still have that same look in my eye every time I pick up a
brush. Visit my website

The creative process has been a
journey for me…I’ve designed unique clothing
accessories, offered award winning photography as
well as negative and print retouching, designed
woodcrafts and furniture, painted every surface you can
imagine, each providing an education in a vast array of
mediums. From concept to application,
through experimentation and experience, I strive to
provide the most artistically unique and personalized
surfaces to suit every individual. I invite you to

My
interest in decorative arts began at a very young age.
At 12, I was commissioned to paint animated
doughnut figures on the glass façade of a local doughnut
shop. In my early twenties I owned and operated a
part-time arts & crafts business with my mother creating
hand-painted clothing and home décor. It was then that I
started re-vamping old garage sale furniture finds. I
have combined my love of painted furniture with a
successful career as a faux finish artist, decorator,
entrepreneur and teacher specializing in furniture
finishing and kitchen cabinet remodeling. Visit my

I've been involved in the decorative
arts since 1986, and my favoured field is graining and
marbling. Working from our studio and school in Perthshire, my husband
Gibson and I run a successful decorative painting business, Carte
Blanche, committed to the highest standards of distinctive and refined
craftsmanship. I enjoy an ongoing relationship and exciting exchange of
skills and camaraderie with my American colleagues and students.

My love affair with color and texture
began early. Whether it was admiring my new 64 pack of Crayolas, losing
myself in the color saturated illustrations of Disney's Sleeping Beauty,
or delighting in my grandmother's collection of fabrics and trim, it was
clear I had an obsession with color. While studying fine arts, it
always came back to color and the way I could manipulate various media
to create interesting effects and textures on surfaces. It was a
natural progression for me to eventually do exactly that on walls, and I
still have a passionate obsession with color and texture to this day.

I
painted my
very first mural in the fifth grade. Our whole class covered the
walls with thick rosin paper then painted a beautiful Mexican village
scene on our coat closet walls. Years later when revisiting my
life's work - my friend made a statement, "Do what you liked doing as a
kid." The rest was easy - Play with paint - Be creative - Enjoy
the journey - Make others happy with my art. I love sharing
this art form with others. Starting in January 2007, I am
privileged to be the president of our local SALI Chapter. I live in San
Diego with my husband and I have two grown sons. Visit my website

When people ask "You are an artist?
How?" It's hard to explain. For me, it
just....IS. I see my children excited
with art and I wonder was I like that as
a kid? Who am I? I am the
one sitting in the driveway on a warm
summer day using fat colored chalk
to make cool pictures out of each letter
of the alphabet. I am the one who
hates cooking but can't wait to turn a
cake into Sponge Bob for my son's
birthday. I am the one who gets lost for
days working in my studio to see what
new finish I can create. I am the one
thankful for being able to do what I
love - letting flow the creative
talent that God has blessed me with.

After raising a family
and owning a paint and wall covering business, I
searched many years for a creative outlet using my
hands. I discovered the world and beauty of
decorative finishes, and it was love at first sight!
I finally found what I had been searching for and
have not looked back since. Using my hands
creating beautiful finishes has been a thrill since
the beginning of my decorative arts career in 2002.
Continuing education is of the utmost importance and
I schedule classes yearly to keep up with current
trends and techniques. Serving the Atlanta
area and traveling for projects as well, my website

"How did I go from
farm girl to faux finisher?” I have always been
fascinated with the bright colors of spring and
fall, the rich colors of summer, and the paleness of
winter. My fondest memories are coloring with my
brother and cooking with my mother.
My mother
never used a recipe, and one time I asked her why. She said that
if you learn to live life without a recipe it is much more colorful. I
now understand what she meant. I can only describe my work now as a feeling of
coming home to a place I was meant to be, and I thank God for being
blessed with a life full of color. Visit my website www.artistryinfaux.com
